A first year of English for Class 1 on the Karnataka state syllabus, following the KTBS English Reader cum Activity Book for Second Language, unit by unit — the letters, then fruits, vegetables, animals, the body, school, family, shapes and colours, good habits, transport, numbers and days. Every lesson in the textbook is taught over three short days rather than one long sitting — because ten minutes is a thing a child does on a bus, and forty is a thing somebody has to make them do.

Every third day is a recall day, and it deliberately asks about lessons from one, three and seven units ago rather than the one just finished. Getting those wrong is the point — a thing you have to reach for is a thing you still have in March.
